To be a pet owner, you need to know that pets, especially dogs need regular exercise to have a happy and healthy life and to do their business.
You could take your dog for a quick walk around the block or simply allow him out in the yard to run and play until he is tired.
But don’t allow your dog just the minimum amount of exercise. You could turn your dog into your own workout partner. You can wake up in the mornings and take him with you for your morning jog so that you are also getting your daily exercise as well.
For your health and your pet, walking can be beneficial. As many may think, walking may not seem as effective an exercise as it is, but it really does have a positive effect on your body.
The both of you will gain stamina when you add walking to your daily routine. Each time you walk you will be able to go a little further and longer each time. Not only will you be happy, you will have a happy and healthy pet who appreciates the time and attention from you.
You may be able to start going on short runs with your dogs after the both of you get used to the normal walking, but you must check with the breed of your dog to ensure short runs are acceptable.
If you have a smaller dog, their short legs may not be able to keep up on a run with you, but a big dog with longer legs will enjoy getting the exercise and stretching their long legs. You can try Frisbee or fetch at the park or even hikes together.
Whichever form of exercise you choose to allow your dog, he will be appreciative and so will you once you see the benefits of the exercise.
